9th Grade Basic Math Class
11-9-07
The concept of time is very important concept for the students to be familiar with. We will be looking at the clock and how to tell time. After we master this concept we will be looking at word problems to try and find out how long it is for someone to travel X amount of time and arrive at the destination when he left point A at this time. What time will he arrive at the destination? Etc.

We will also be contining our study of the multiplication tables.

11-19-07
We will continue our study of time problems. We will be using small hand manipulated clocks to demonstrate our knowledge of how to read the analog clock, project time into the future, read the amount of time that has elapsed since a given incident, etc. This week and next we will continue our memorization of the times tables and test this knowledge.

12-3 thru 12-7
We have been working on memorizing the multiplication tables. We finished them thru the 9's. This week we will study how to multiply single digit numbers by single digit numbers and then expand to two digit numbers. We will also review telling time and using money to purchase things and count change back. We don't want our acquired skills to get "rusty'.

12-10-07
This week we will be working on reading and solving word problems using multiplication. We will be continually reviewing and practicing our mulitplication factos.

1-2-08
We are starting to work on the concept of divison. To make sure we are able to master this we have to make sure we have our multiplication facts memorized we will spend some time reviewing these facts.

Feb. 11-15, 2008
We are in the check writing section of the course. The students will learn how to write out a check, record the check in the check register, how to fill out a deposit slip and a withdrawal slip. We will also try to accomplish a check reconciliation section to balance our checkbook.
