Articulation Ideas
Children of preschool age are in a developmental sequence of acquiring correct speech sounds. Some children this age have excellent articulation skills while others may need a bit more time to develop. You can help your child produce clearer speech in any number of ways.
1. Always use clear speech models with your child.
2. If your child has trouble with a specific sound try to stress that sound in you own speech. For example if your child says door instead of four you can stress and extend the /f/ sound "Yes you are four."
3. Make a scrapbook of sounds. Cut out pictures and paste them into a notebook of specific speech sounds. Children love to read their own books and cutting and gluing are just a bonus.
4. Practice saying sounds in a mirror with your child. This allows them a visual model of how to move their mouth, teeth, and tongue to say sounds correctly.

Ages of Sound Acquisition
