Introductions Hello! My name is Kirsten Tatge and I am the elementary school counselor at Talahi and Discovery. As a school counselor I enjoy meeting with students individually, in small groups and in the classrooms. Some issues or topics that I address with students are academic skills, anger management, bullying, social skills, depression/anxiety, family change, grief and loss, military deployment, peer relationships and self esteem. Please contact me if you would like me to see your child. Schedule: I will be at Talahi on Tuesdays, Wednesday afternoons, Thursdays and Fridays. I am at Discovery on Mondays and Wednesday mornings. When our buckets are full, we are happy; when they are empty, we are sad. It's important to know that we can fill our own bucket and so can others. We can also dip into it. What are bucket fillers? "Bucket fillers" are those who help without being asked, give hugs and compliments, and generally spread their love and good feelings to others. The simple metaphor of a bucket helps even preschoolers understand the importance of consideration and love, particularly towards those who bully.(Bucket Filler.Inc.) |

Tips for Self Calming When Angry ~Take deep breaths ~Change your thinking to more helpful thoughts ~Say "I am angry because..." ~Scribbling on some paper ~Write your feelings in a journal ~Go for a walk or run ~Talk to someone ~Draw or write an angry letter and tear it up ~Listen to music ~Ask for help if you can not seem to calm yourself |
