They demonstrated their abilities in addition, subtraction, solving grid puzzles, finding the median (middle value) and the mode (most frequent data) for a set of numbers, and graphing data. Language Arts The children have been reading from our Invitations to Literacy program, discussing key concepts, and completing comprehension sheets. We also have been practicing, practicing, and practicing for our upcoming plays. Thanks for helping your child to memorize his/her parts. Spelling Test Tomorrow Please remember to have your child study for the spelling test tomorrow! No Spelling next week. We are focusing on our plays! Literature During literature time, we are reading the book Meet Addy from the American Girl collection. It is a story about a young girl named Addy who is a slave during the Civil War. Showing great courage, she and her mother take the risk to escape to freedom, hoping to one day be reunited with their entire family. Science We have been experimenting on the changes that occur when solids are mixed with water. Ask your child about the raisins, beans, cookies, salt, and various other solids that we are observing. Book-It! January Book-Its! are due on Wednesday. Please help your child to get this form in to his/her teacher. Also, February Book-Its! will be sent home on Wednesday. Happy reading! Valentine List Our Valentine list of names was already sent home. If your child is making Valentines, please make sure every child in the class is included. And please remember… peanut safe treats. Thanks! PAKRAT Book Bags We hope you are enjoying the PAKRAT book bags that your child has been bringing home. No books will be sent home over the weekend, and all books are due tomorrow as we are checking them all in to receive a new batch of books.
