Welcome to my Web Page! I am the school psychologist at Kennedy Elementary and South Junior High. I also serve the St. Joseph Lab School. This is my 22nd year in the St. Cloud school district! I have a Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Moorhead State University and am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP). I am a member of the Minnesota School Psychologist Association (MSPA) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). My Role As A School Psychologist School psychologists in our district are important members of the child study teams in each building. We assess or evaluate students who are struggling in school and help to determine if they may qualify for and need special education support services. In this process, we help to identify students who have disabilities, and we are involved in referring students to other agencies (such as health or mental health providers) so they can receive support services which are necessary for their personal, social, emotional and physical health. School psychologist training is a blend of educational and clinical psychology, and we focus primarily on helping students access the support they need to do well in their school programs. Thus, our primary roles are with evaluations and program planning for students, in collaboration with parents, administrators, special education teachers, and the other specialists who provide services to students, such as speech/language clinicians, occupational and physical therapists, health specialists, and autism specialists. We are fortunate that in our school district, we have expanded our roles to include direct mental health support to students and an increased emphasis on early interventions to help students succeed in their mainstream learning activities. |

Consistent progress monitoring and data-based decision making are central to this process. We feel that our early intervention/problem-solving process will benefit all our students, whether or not they qualify for special services. I have been involved in advanced training in Resiliency/Health Realization principles, and I will continue teaching health realization principles to students this year. This approach to understanding human psychological functioning and resilience is extremely helpful to students in all aspects of their lives, and they respond very positively to learning the principles. |
