			Welcome Welcome Parents and Students to Grade Six, or Team Six as we are called upstairs. Mr. Forte and I are excited to work with your children this year. We will have many other teachers and support staff working with us as well. Agendas I do check agendas each day in class. I have a homework board in class and students are expected to write down whatever is on the board. If they are finished with an assignment, they should put a checkmark next to it. I would ask that parents sign agendas each night. Have your child show you his/her homework before you sign it. By checking homework, you will know that the work is finished and will have an ideas of what your child is studying in class.
						Language Arts Your child will bring home a reading letter listing the reading requirements for independent reading. I want the students to start doing some long-range planning. The reading goal is set up by quarters. Please help your child determine his/her reading goal and then set up some monthly timelines for taking AR tests or turning in story grammars. We will work on this long-range planning in class, also. We usually have spelling tests on Friday. New words come home each Monday. The white copy is for you to keep on the refrigerator. Students will have a copy to keep at school. We're off to a great start in grade six! I look forward to an exciting year!
