			School Counseling Services Mission Statement: The mission of District 742's Elementary Counseling Program is to empower all of the students to acquire educational, occupational, and social/emotional competencies necessary to live and contribute in a changing and diverse society while celebrating individual difference. Counselors can help with: -Academic Skills/Support -Anger Management -Bullying/Harrassment -Communication/Socials Skills -Decision Making -Depression/Anxiety -Family Change -Grief and Loss -Military Deployment -Neglect and Abuse -Peer Relationships -Self-Esteem/Support Funding The St. Cloud Area School District is fortunate to have received the Elementary/Secondary School Counseling Demonstration Grant. This is the second year of the federal grant which provided funding for a school counselor in each of the district's elementary schools. Without this funding we would not be able to provide much needed support to many of our elementary students.
						Counselors Mrs. Nancy Streng has a Master's degree in Applied Psychology and is a full time counselor at Oak Hill. She meets with students individually, in small groups, and presents classroom social skills lessons. In the above photo, Mrs. Streng is learning about typical worries that third grade students have. Through the activity of building a "worry tower", students learn the importance of talking to adults about stressful situations in their life. Mr. Nate Elsen is a Counselor Intern from St. Cloud State in the School Counseling Program. He will be working with Mrs. Streng as a part of his training.
