What is Title 1?
Title 1 is a federally funded program that began in 1965. It is intended to help insure that all children have the opportunity to reach proficiency on challenging state academic standards and assessments. As the largest federal program supporting education, Title 1 provides funding that may be used to provide additional instructional staff, professional development, extended-time programs and other strategies for raising student achievement in high poverty schools.

What is a target school?
