6th and 7th Grade Art
In 6th grade Art we will look at the major Art Movements of the 20th Century. A variety of media will be used to explore stlyes of Art. We will also look a the Art Work of different cultures and techniques we can use to create works in a similar style.

In 7th grade art we will look at the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. The Elements of Art include: Line, Shape, Color, Texture and Space. The elements are the basic tools of art. The Principles are: Balance, Emphasis, Rhythm,Movement,Unity and Pattern. The principles of design are guidelines that can help you decide on the way to put the elements of art together.


Media used and Artists studied
We will be experimenting with a wide variety of media. These may include: drawing pencils, colored pencils, markers, acrylic paint, watercolor paint, clay and paper mache. In each unit we will look at an artist and their style. We will emphasize an element or principle and look at cultural references.
